The Best and Worst Parts of Motherhood

What do you like most about being a mom?

It may or may not be a simple answer. Being a mom embodies so many things: joy, unconditional love, fear, sleepless nights (and so much laundry!).

We surveyed 1,000 women 18 and over to find out what being a mom means to them and the best and worst parts of being a mother. Check out our findings below.

The best part about being a mom is the unconditional love.

Across age ranges, unconditional love is something that moms appreciate the most. Watching their kids grow is a close second.

Moms dislike the the never-ending laundry the most.

Babies and toddlers need to be changed is 3-5 times a day on average. So, it’s not surprising that mothers are tired of constantly having to wash and fold.

Moms enjoy driving their kids to activities.

Although driving around can get tiring and the activities can get  really expensive, women still prefer driving their kids to activities over doing laundry.

Moms hate seeing their child upset or hurt more than anything else.

Kids have a lot of ups and downs, especially when they dealing with a new school, making friends or feeling sick. This can weigh heavily on a mother. In fact, 44% said that is the worst part about being a mom.

Surprisingly, moms don’t feel as though they are missing out on activities with friends.

After many mommy duties, like preparing dinner for the family, entertaining kids and maintaining a happy household, only 2% felt that they were actually missing out on activities with friends.

Being a mom makes women feel proud.

37% of women feel proud to be a mom. This made us smile because it goes to show that a son or daughter really is a mother’s pride and joy.

Moms don’t always feel brave or empowered.

When asked how being a mom makes them feel, only 5% of women feel brave or empowered which proves that motherhood, although very rewarding, is also very scary.

As you can see, fears and worrying are all part of being a mom. But the unconditional love is irreplaceable and far worth all of the daily struggles.
